Green Beer

I insisted on having some green beer for this year’s St. Patty’s day.  My lady is so great to me.

Game well played

I’ve been exercising the game of poker as of late. I have a few groups I play with, and when the time is right, when the night is right, when the mood is tight, when my head is screwed on nice and tight, and the night goes aight, I definitely have some good times.

MARDI GRAS

Mardi Gras is a crazy holiday. The battle has been a worthy one. The origin from Rome to incorporate a few pagan rituals after accepting Christianity; it then came to lands of america through a French explorer who landed close by New Orleans. After it dominated in New Orleans, then got banned, then got “convinced” back to be celebrated, then got enormous publicity there was no way to keep this party quiet. The masks and the carnival lives on as Mardi Gras.

This year I celebrated this carnival in Hillcres, San Diego, California.

V-Day

I am not a huge fan of the smoochy mooshie holiday in February, but I have been as of late. With my lack of ever celebrating it (with the exception of my dad who would give me cute gifts for such a day, it was precious) I never even notice it coming. Even with all the advertising for it.

in 2011 and this year I was actually excited about it. Just wanting to make it memorable and not just another day with my lady.

We ended up doing something usual, watching the sunset, over the ocean, by once of our surf spots, in a special way  it was remembered. Simply, exactly what I desired.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY BABY.

Goal accomplished!!!!

One of my goals has been to surf and snowboard on the same day. Living in SoCal is a great convenience to do such a thing (if you do both of these sports of course). With the ocean right there and a snow packed mountain a few hours away it was easy to plan. A  dawn patrol surf sesh to begin the day with and an afternoon dusk snowboard trip down the mountain a few times is the way to do accomplish this goal. FYI I had planned this goal a good number of years back and to have it come up as a convenience of a happening was the best way to do it.

I was ecstatic after I’ve thought of the remembrance of this goal and brought it up in conversation as a few of us were planing a trip up to Big Bear. It was not much of convincing for anyone, only the best idea ever. So the story goes.

Current Read

I found an interesting book, that I am reading on line right now. I have not heard of this read, but it sure has the wise words of my interest in it. It is called Brave New World and it is written by Aldous Huxley.

So far so good.

wise words

“The most terrifying part about the universe is not that it is hostile but that it is indifferent; but if we can come to terms with this difference and accept the challenges of life within the boundaries of death – however mutable man may be able to make them – our existence as a species can have genuine meaning and fulfillment. However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light.”

-Stanley Kubrick
